I won this book on goodreads giveaways with the intention of somehow becoming much better at Spanish than I actually am. I'm disappointed that I wasn't able to finish it. I have a pretty good understanding of Buddhism and most sutras since my MA mainly focused on Buddhist iconography and I was able to pick out the words in Sanskrit I knew but that was mostly it. I know that the oldest written version of this sutra is in Chinese, not Sanskrit. Some people think that this means that it isn't "real" -whatever that means but I think this simply means that we don't have it. Probably never will since paper and wood aren't the longest lasting. This was probably memorized verbatim by a teacher priest and copied down by a Chinese monk. Happy reading!

Won this book from Goodreads. I want to say thank you to Manuel Vega for the giveaway and the extra book that came along with Sutra Surangama. I've taken Spanish for 3 years and spent some time in Spain..and yet it was still not enough. You definitely have to be a fluent speaker in order to read this book. It just so happens that my good friend is! Oh and she's buddhist. Perfect?? She's super excited to start reading this book. Maybe I'll post her thoughts about it later on!

I won this book in a GoodReads giveaway. Sadly my Spanish is so bad that I was not about to complete the book. I gave it to my co-worker who is from Spain, she loved it!
